The Big Reveal!

Notice anything different around here??  Yep, you guessed it!  My blog got a facelift in the form of a new theme.  And…. I designed and coded it myself.  This is a super proud moment for me, to have come this far in my web design skills and to launch my theme here on the blog 🙂

I’ve been learning and tinkering with this theme for months now in order to learn the ins and outs of wordpress site design and gain more understanding of HTML, CSS, and even a little PHP.  My goal was to create a clean, sharp, and eye-catching theme that was smartly coded, contained all the extras I wanted, and was responsive and easy to navigate.

I still have a little tweaking to do, but I just wanted to pop in and see what you all thought of the new look!  I can’t wait to further expand my skills… next on the list: start learning photoshop (which is currently very intimidating).  I’m all too good at getting by with the most creative solutions using Word and Paint, but I also know that those can only get you so far.  Maybe there is a class I can take locally…

Well that’s all for now, see you all next week for a little Christmas blog hop fun 😉  Until then… ta ta!

    1. Thanks Emily, it was a fun learning process! And, you bet, I’m so excited to be joining you and so many amazing bloggers 🙂

  1. Congrats on your theme, you did a fantastic job! Isn’t learning and tinkering with css kinda addicting? When I’ve done it in the past, my husband told me I couldn’t get on him for all his computer nerdom, because I was completely nerding out. You’ve totally surpassed me though in whatever I had done. I eventually found a super flexible theme that had options for all the in and outs I wanted. I agree that the minimal and crisp look is gorgeous and freeing to focus on your stuff. I think you’ll catch onto photoshop quickly with your tinkering/learning skills! “In Design” is another fantastic Adobe program that creates gorgeous typography, easy + perfect object/image positioning and more. Good luck!

    1. Thanks, Karisa! Yes!!! It is so addicting, lol 🙂 And your theme design is gorgeous, by the way! I appreciate the encouragement, sometimes thinking of how much I have to still learn overwhelms me! I will definitely be checking In Design out 🙂

    1. Thanks Tania! This is my favorite part of the blog world, having the freedom and support to go after whatever crazy dreams and passions you have 🙂 PS, loved your sweet Christmas home tour! 😉

  2. Very professional looking. Knowing what it takes to start a web page, you come a very long way in your first attempt at HTML and CSS.
