My $21 Outfit | Latest Deals and Steals

You all know I’m a sucker for a good deal!  Yes, sometimes I even buy something simply because it’s a deal (which I know you are not supposed to do…)  Lately I’ve been on a roll…  To show you the fruits of my thrifting/saling labors I’ve put together this outfit for $21.

Believe it or not it’s actually very difficult to take self-timed shots, I’ve discovered, so please excuse the blurry hands.  This one was the best I got…

Let’s Break it Down

Vince Camuto Leather Boots = $6

I bought these at a Salvation Army in the area, the same time I found my chairs I refurbished.  It was love at first sight.  No matter how sketchy I looked sitting on the floor of the thrift store attempting to put on these (very tight in the calves) leather boots, I was determined they would fit, and they would be mine.  After I took them home I looked up Vince Camuto and saw that he designs high end leather boots like mine. Score!  (Thankfully the leather did stretch around my calves and they are wearable except with very thick jeans ;))

Gap Purse = $5

On a whim the other day, I went through the purses at the local Salvation Army and happened to spy this beauty.  I immediately fell in love with the fabric and the pretty gold hardware.  And… I have been super wanted a purse with a long strap and two short ones (weird criteria, I know…) and I finally found my dream purse!  At the thrift store, no less…  It had an ‘as-is’ tag on it and I saw that one strap had come un-sewed.  Easy fix! 🙂  It’s not even fair how much I love this purse… and Gap for making it!

Anne Klein Leggings = $5

This is my only non-thrifted item, in the bunch.  But, I did buy it on clearance at Marshall’s (love that store!) for five bucks.  I’ve been wanting some leggings for fall so I happily obliged!

J. Crew Sweater = $3

Another Salvation Army find (it’s really my preferred thrifting spot), I was ecstatic to find this like new J. Crew sweater for only $3.  Long sweaters are so fun for fall and I couldn’t wait to pair this green beauty with my boots and leggings.

Ombre Scarf = $2

I’m not sure what brand it is, but when I found this scarf at Salvation Army (again.. I know.) it was so soft, I knew it was meant to be.  The gray color is so neutral, making it perfect for almost any outfit.  And how neat is the ombre effect??  Love it! 😉

So, after writing this I realize that I am a Salvation Army loyalist.  Let me explain why… Where I live there are two thrift stores within ten minutes of our apartment: Salvation Army, and Goodwill.  The Goodwill is clean, orderly, and overall well organized and brightly lit.  The Salvation Army is cluttered, dark, dirty, totally unorganized, and overall much less pleasant… Which is exactly why I LOOOVE it!  It is so easy for the deal of the century to get lost in the piles of junk where it sits waiting for me to rediscover it.  Goodwill, on the other hand, is a much more frequented establishment.  So, the deals go, and they go fast!  In a nutshell, that is why I have a love affair with the local Salvation Army.

Have you scored any awesome second hand deals lately?  Where do you shop for deals?  Tell me your thrifting secrets!!! 😉
