The Friday Five

Starting this week, I would like to introduce the Friday Five! (*cue applause*) I’ve been wanting an informal way to share some of my favorite things from the week with you all. After seeing other bloggers do similar ‘Friday favorites’ posts, I decided it is about time to get one rolling here! So with without further ado… 1. Caprese everything! It’s official, I’m in love. After trying out this recipe from Cooking Classy, I knew it was meant to be. I even ordered a caprese grilled sandwhich at Colonial Cafe on Wednesday. There’s just something about all that balsamic cheesy goodness…. (Even Jake approved, he said it was one of his favorite dinners I’ve made him yet :))

2. Gold Leaf. If you’ve read any of my posts this week, you already know that I’ve been hit with the Midas fever (I just made that up… weird?). But, seriously it’s bad! Three posts that I’ve written have talked about gold leaf. First a DIY gold leaf inspiration post, then one on my free gold leaf mirror, and finally my DIY gold leaf bird art. Have I converted any of you yet? 😉

3. Go Blackhawks? Last night, Jake’s company got tickets to a Blackhawks preseason game, and they were for the theater box seats. Folks, this is as good as it gets! No, I’m certainly not a hockey fan, but even I can appreciate it with chocolate cake in front of me. It was amazing, an all inclusive gourmet dinner and deserts and drinks and snacks. This was definitely a special treat for us, to have the best seats in the house! To be honest though, I’m not much of a fancy food person… (That’s why we had BBQ at our wedding) so while Jake loaded up on beef brisket and salmon, I ate light because I had already spotted the dessert buffet. Oh My. Heavenly! I can’t remember the last time I ate so much chocolate 😉 Or watched a hockey game for that matter…

4. Cheetah Print. I can just see my sister cringing… (Sorry Nicole!) But, it’s true, I’m loving it! Specifically in the form of scarfs and shoes 🙂 I only actually own one cheetah print item: a tote with sequin cheetah patterned bottom that my mom bought me. (At least she’s on board with me ;))

5. Little Bit Gypsy by Kelly Pickler. When I heard this song on the radio, after hearing just one verse, I instantly announced to Jake that it was my new favorite song! Call me crazy, but I have this weird thing where I love gypsies… Maybe because I’m such a (non-gypsy-like) practical person, or maybe because I am a free spirit too 😉 Who knows….
