Decorating with Milk Glass

Just a warning there are a LOT of pictures in this post.. I’m attempting to teach myself photography 😉

I’m excited to show you the progress I made in decorating the bedroom.  While Jake was a little sad to have his fishing lure puzzle taken down, I think it’s for the best. 😉  I was able to reuse decorations from the wedding and showcase some of my milk glass collection.

With decorating, sometimes I hesitate to start because I feel like my starting point is so far from ‘perfect.’  But doing the little things like setting up your dresser nice, can make such a difference in prettying up a room.

All these milk glass pieces came from the wedding.  We collected quite a few in the process.  My grandma was so sweet and always found the neatest ones for me at resale shops.  Someday I hope to get to display them in a black cabinet with glass doors.  I think that would be a neat dramatic effect!

I decided to use the milk glass to display my jewelry.  The tall vase above has two thin chain necklaces hanging from it.  (Don’t you just love that hobnail? ;))

I have my earrings in a milk glass bowl with pink edging.  And I used a milk glass cake stand to display my perfumes.  (Can you tell I have a pink thing going?)

I think I will be much more likely to wear my jewelry with it out on my dresser looking so cute!  On a side note… I just got a new necklace and earrings on clearance at LOFT, and I am obsessed. 🙂  They have such gorgeous jewelry!  At least two pairs hanging there are from LOFT.

Here is a glamour shot.  So, that dress hanging there was meant to block me from showing up in the mirror… of course my head would still show up there anyways!

I also did a little styling over the bookcase.  The large B came from our wedding decor, it hung in front of the head table.  While I feel much better about the top of the bookcase, the actual books need a little help… but that’s for another day!

Those ceramic deer were painted by Jake’s grandma.  I had to keep those on there, not only because I think they’re pretty, but in honor of Jake’s love for all things deer.

I added a few more milk glass pieces on the nightstand.  Frankly, the nightstand is in need of some decorating help.  But I am working on that and hopefully will share with you soon on that… Do you like my fake flowers?  I got them from a super sweet lady’s garage sale for free 🙂

I even did a little decorating on Jake’s dresser.  (Formerly it housed his ‘once-worn’ clothes)  I added the ampersand, also a wedding decoration from our Guest ‘Log’ table.  The fake peony, also from the garage sale lady, is displayed in another milk glass vase.

And finally here’s a view of our pretty Anthropology bedspread.  🙂  We need to put something above the bed and are toying with the idea of mounting one of Jake’s antler sets there…. Thoughts on this?

I’ll leave you with another glamour shot. What do you think of the new decor?  Have you reused any old decor to get a new look?  I would love to hear your opinions, and if you have any suggestions for the room!
